This knowledge and skills development course for the Espree Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI) systems is designed to teach field service and support personnel the core principles for all primary system components:

  • Operation
  • Configuration
  • Troubleshooting
  • Repair

During the 8-day course, students will engage in discussions, lectures, and labs in order to provide a thorough understanding and experience with the material.

Siemens Magnetom Avanto and Espree - September 15-24, 2020

Course Description

Technical Prospects’ Servicing Siemens Avanto and Espree MRI Training Course is an 8-day comprehensive course designed to advance the knowledge, capabilities, and careers of field service and technical support personnel. During the course students will engage in discussions and peer learning sessions centered on system design and core principles. The course also focuses on advanced MRI principles and image quality concerns.

Prerequisites:

It is highly recommended that interested students have the following Knowledge/Experience;

  • 2+ years of industry /military experience working with MRI equipment OR
  • Attendance of an OEM’s Introduction to MRI or MRI Basics course (Certificates may be requested)

Course Syllabus:

Day 1: Course Introduction and MRI Principles

  • Introduction
  • Course Overview
  • MRI Principles and MRI Safety
  • Peer Learning Session: Students interact with their peers to discuss and identify major sub-systems of the Avanto and Espree.

Day 2: Espree Overview and System Operation

  • Class Q&A Session: Review presented material and answer any questions students may have.
  • System Overview: Understand the principle and purpose of Magnet System and Cooling System.
  • Peer Learning Sessions: Students interact with their peers to become familiar with the operation and functionality of the MR Acquisition Workplace; Host (MRC) and Imager (MRIR).
  • Students interact with their peers to become familiar with the Body Coil and Local Coils.

Day 3: Espree Overview and Service Software

  • Class Q&A Session: Review presented material and answer any questions students may have.
  • System Overview: Understand the principle and purpose of MR Acquisition Workplace (MRAWP) and Advanced Measurement Control (AMC).
  • Peer Learning Sessions: Students interact with their peers to simulate patient scanning and image evaluation.
  • Students interact with their peers to discuss and access Service Software (SeSo).

Day 4: Espree Overview and Image Quality

  • Class Q&A Session: Review presented material and answer any questions students may have.
  • System Overview: Understand the principle and purpose of RF System and Patient Handling System.
  • Peer Learning Sessions: Students interact with their peers to discuss RF sub-system problems and image quality degradation.
  • Students interact with their peers to discuss and perform RF-related Tune-Up procedures.

Day 5: Espree Overview and Tune-Up

  • Class Q&A Session: Review presented material and answer any questions students may have.
  • System Overview: Understand the principle and purpose of Gradient System and Line Power Distribution.
  • Peer Learning Sessions: Students interact with their peers to discuss the relationship of shim and homogeneity.
  • Students interact with their peers to discuss and perform Gradient-related Tune-Up procedures.

Day 6: Preventative Maintenance and Signal to Noise Ratio

  • Class Q&A Session: Review presented material and answer any questions students may have.
  • Peer Learning Sessions: Students interact with their peers to discuss and perform preventative maintenance procedures.
  • Students interact with their peers to discuss signal to noise ratio (SNR) and perceived artifact.
  • Students interact with their peers to investigate and resolve system problems, presented by the instructor.

Day 7: Ramping the Magnet and Tune-Up

  • Class Q&A Session: Review presented material and answer any questions students may have.
  • Peer Learning Sessions: Students interact with their peers to discuss ramping the magnet procedures.
  • Students interact with their peers to discuss magnet cooling system and maintaining system specifications.
  • Students interact with their peers to investigate and resolve system problems, presented by the instructor.

Day 8: Course Review and Learning Evaluation

  • Class Q&A Session: Review instructor presented material and answer any questions students may have.
  • Learning Evaluation: Final Exam
  • Peer Learning Session: Students interact with their peers to investigate and resolve system problems, presented by the instructor.
